Before you begin the install, there are few things you need to have and do. You need access to your site and its directory and software to proceed with the installation. These are:
- An access to your web server (via shell or FTP)
- A text editor
- An FTP Client (if you need to install WordPress on a remote server)
- Your web browser of choice
- Latest version of WordPress
To install a self-hosted version of WordPress, you will first need to have a domain and hosting. If you do not have a web host yet, we recommend signing up for Bluehost. You can get a domain and hosting for only $6.95 per month.
Once you have signed up for a web host, you can install WordPress via uploading via FTP or via 1-Click installation (only available on some web hosts). If you do not have an FTP program, we recommend Transmit for Mac or FileZilla for Windows.
Once you have your hosting and FTP client ready, you can install WordPress in as little as 5-minutes.
WordPress Famous 5-Minute Installation
From WordPress.org:
Here’s the quick version of the instructions, for those that are already comfortable with performing such installations. More detailed instructions follow.
- Download and unzip the WordPress package, if you haven’t already.
- Create a database for WordPress on your web server, as well as a MySQL user who has all privileges for accessing and modifying it.
- Rename the wp-config-sample.php file to wp-config.php.
- Open wp-config.php in your favorite text editor and fill in your database details as explained in Editing wp-config.php to generate and use your secret key password.
- Place the WordPress files in the desired location on your web server:
- If you want to integrate WordPress into the root of your domain (e.g. http://example.com/), move or upload all contents of the unzipped WordPress directory (but excluding the directory itself) into the root directory of your web server.
- If you want to have your WordPress installation in its own subdirectory on your web site (e.g. http://example.com/blog/), rename the directory wordpress to the name you’d like the subdirectory to have and move or upload it to your web server. For example if you want the WordPress installation in a subdirectory called “blog”, you should rename the directory called “wordpress” to “blog” and upload it to the root directory of your web server.
- Run the WordPress installation script by accessing wp-admin/install.php in your favorite web browser.
- If you installed WordPress in the root directory, you should visit: http://example.com/wp-admin/install.php
- If you installed WordPress in its own subdirectory called blog, for example, you should visit: http://example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php
That’s it! WordPress should now be installed.
If you are unable to complete the installation of WordPress using the above method, ask your web host if it offers 1-Click WordPress installations using Fantastico. If it does not, consider switching to a host that does, such as Bluehost.
If you are install Squeeze Theme or Affiliate Theme via FTP, you must first unzip the downloaded files. If you are having problems unzipping the files, we recommend the following file unzipping utilities:
For Mac:
For Windows:
If you are having problems unzipping the files after trying the above programs, please contact us.

8. It gives you a core of similarly-minded niche group of people to market to.
Everyone who opts into your list is going to be similarly-minded and will generally want the same thing from you. This can make marketing to them infinitely easier and more efficient.
7. You can always keep it with you (save for those who unsubscribe).
Until someone unsubscribes from your list, you have every right to continue emailing them with questions, surveys, offers or news about your site or blog.
6. It makes sense both long-term and short-term to continue building any and all of your lists.
Continuing to make your e-mail list(s) bigger is just a smart decision both in the short term AND the long term. Since you can always keep the emails you collect unless they unsubscribe, you can optimize their usefulness over time!
5. It provides more traffic to your site and/or blog.
If you got your subscribers to opt-in via a squeeze page or blog or website, you can always update them when there are new posts or happenings that may interest them. This provides you with legitimately FREE opportunities at traffic generation!
4. You can gain valuable feedback from asking simple questions or giving surveys to your subscribers.
Don’t be afraid to interact with your subscribers. They can provide you with invaluable insight and information into what makes them as a whole tick (or buy!).
3. You know exactly why they opted-into your list, giving you insight into what will sell best with them.
You know exactly what worked with everyone on your email list because you got them to agree to place their email address there. Use this to your advantage!
2. It consistently provides you with an audience to market to.
You’re constantly going to be provided with a list of emails that you can test and tinker different offers or emails with. This is an incredibly invaluable resource!
1. You can make a ton of money off of your lists!
That’s pretty much it. If you maintain and market different offers or site updates correctly, you should have no problem at all making money from your lists.
If you have a blog, chances are you’re putting a significant amount of work into it. Why not actually PROFIT from the time and effort you put into your blog? Why not monetize it? If you see the value of monetizing a blog (and there are hundreds of thousands of people just like you who do) then one of the most important things you can do is to capture emails.
So, how do you capture emails on your blog? Well, you can use a simple “subscribe to a newsletter” widget on your sidebar. That might give you the beginning of an email list. But if you want to go further, ask yourself what the type of person who chooses to read your blog would most likely be interested in besides what you’ve written. As a general rule you can’t just say, hey, sign up for my email list without offering something of value or interest to your reader.
Using a squeeze page can be another way to capture emails. A squeeze page specifically tailored at getting your readers to opt-in can offer, for instance, a free e-book tutorial about your particular niche. That might be just the incentive for a reader to leave you with his or her email address.
You don’t HAVE to use a squeeze page, of course. But odds are the opt-in percentage is going to be significantly less if you’re simply using a sidebar widget.
No matter how you choose to collect email addresses, just make sure that you do SOMETHING. You’re practically shooting yourself in the foot by ignoring opportunities to capture email addresses.
So what are you waiting for? Are you still reading this? Go and collect emails on your blog or website now! Go, go, go!

Integrating Google Analytics

Arguably the most popular tracking program is Google Analytics. Therefore, we have made it easy to integrate it into Squeeze Theme. -
After you have created an account, Google provides you with the code that you are going to paste on your site. Highlight and copy all of the code that Google provides.
-
Then on your Squeeze Theme, go to the Main Options panel by clicking on the “Squeeze Theme” button which is the lowest button on the left hand column of the WordPress dashboard.
-
Next, click on the “+/-” button next to “Stat Tracking Codes” to display all of the Stat Tracking Code options.
