Step 2: Featured Post

Below, you will find a video as well as a written tutorial about how to setup the featured post for Squeeze Theme.

Featured Post

  1. One of the coolest features of the blog portion of Squeeze Theme is the ability to display a featured post area. You must have already completed step one of the “Setting Up a Blog” tutorials to start this tutorial. If you have not completed step one already, click HERE to back and complete it. The first thing you need to do is create a new category called “Featured” or something similar. To do this, click on the “Add New Category” link to the right of the screen in the “Categories” widget (highlighted in orange below).

Now type in the word “Featured” in the first field that appears in the drop down (highlighted in orange below)

Then click the “Add” button (highlighted in orange below)

  2. Now you need to upload the image you would like to use for the featured area that will represent this post. For the featured post area, you should choose an image that is 300 x 600 pixels, so that it displays properly. Once you have saved the image you would like to use, you are going to upload it the same way we did before, by clicking on the upload button (highlighted in orange below).

This time instead of clicking the “Insert into Post” button, you are going to highlight and copy all of the “Link URL.” After copying all of the “Link URL” then close the pop up window so you can see the edit post screen.

You are going to paste the “Link URL” into the “Featured Image Link” field in the post extras (highlighted in orange below).

Now, click on the “Update Post” button on the upper right of the screen to save your changes (highlighted in orange below).

  3. Now that you have created a new category called “Featured” and uploaded the featured posts image, you need to select that category in the main options. So click on the “Squeeze Theme” button which is the bottom most link on the left hand side of the screen.
